Sri lanka Beat New Zealand and Qualify for Final: in first Semi final of the World Cup at R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo Sri Lanka beat the New zealand with 5 wickets after a crucial match and reach in Final of ICC Cricket World Cup 2011. Now Sri Lanka Play the World Cup Final at Mumbaion the date of 2nd April .Other Competitor decides after 2nd semi final match of Pakstan vs India on 30 March.

In the first session of the match New Zealand could score only 217 runs, but still Lankan batsman faced difficulty to beat them as New Zealand’s bowling was exact what was required in the game. From New Zealand Styris out on 57 , Guptill on 39 and Taylor made 36 runs. Whereas Mendis and Melinga got out three Players each . In a response by Sri Lanka, Dilshan scored 73 and Sangakkara scored 54 runs. New Zealand Bowler Southee managed to get three wickets.

New Zealand will be mighty pleased with their effort but they were unlucky that they came up short. On a pitch that was slowing up considerably, Dilshan and Sangakkara played a superb innings. They carted the Kiwi bowlers to all parts of the $1>$1>ground and it seemed that the game was headed towards an early finish. They went past their fifties and shared a 120 run partnership to put SL on course. 

However, three wickets fell for just nine runs and NZ gave a good fight. Chamara Silva and Samaraweera struggled to score runs and NZ were slowly but surely applying pressure. Silva continued his poor run, but Samaraweera and Mathews held their nerve till the end. 
Mathews, aided by the runner, struck some crucial blows to give the Sri Lankans a thrilling five wicket win. With this victory, Sri Lanka have booked a place in the finals. This is their second consecutive final appearance and they will be really determined to win this now. For the Kiwis, it was their sixth appearance in a World Cup semi-final and they fell short yet again.
Now that Sri Lanka has secured a place in finals, they will be playing with either India or Pakistan, whoever wins the second semi final in Mohali
